When planning a large-scale event or celebration, a large inflatable can add a significant touch of fun and excitement. However, to enjoy the continuous thrill and avoid potential hazards, it’s critical to understand how to properly set up and secure these inflatable giants. Carelessness or neglect in following safety measures can lead to damage and risk of injury.

Understanding the Required Space

To begin with, assess the area where you plan to set up your inflatable. Consider factors like overhead power lines, underground utilities, sharp objects, or anything that could potentially harm the structure during setup or operations. Ensure there’s enough space for people to move around safely and comfortably.

Unpacking and Inflating

Once you have identified the right spot for setup, unpack your inflatable. Be gentle to avoid tearing or causing any other damage. Lay out your inflatable entirely flat before beginning the inflation process. Connect the air blower to the inflation tube and secure it tightly. Once in place, begin inflating the structure, ensuring that it ascends slowly and correctly.

Securing the Inflatable

A critical step in the setup involves securing the inflatable to the ground. This process prevents them from toppling or blowing away. Use strong, durable stakes or sandbags if setting up on a solid surface like concrete. Make sure the stakes are driven deep into the ground for stability.

Safety Measures

Once the large inflatables are up and running, never lose sight of the safety measures. No one should be allowed inside the inflatable during inflation or deflation. Regularly monitor the weather conditions, as wind speeds more than 20mph can make inflatables unstable. Deflate and securely store away the inflatable if there are storms or heavy winds predicted.

Constant Monitoring

Regular monitoring should be maintained to check its operation and ensure safety. Adults should supervise minors at all times and maintain a limited number of users in the inflatables to prevent overcrowding. It’s also equally critical to ensure the air pressure is adequate at all times to prevent collapsing.

Deflation and Storage

At the end of the day, do not crowd or rush while deflating the inflatable. Allow it to deflate gradually. Once fully deflated, fold and store in a dry place, free from sharp objects that could potentially cause damage.

In conclusion, large inflatables can add a significant level of enjoyment to your event. However, their correct set up, constant maintenance, and taking applicable safety measures are crucial in preventing potential accidents. With these steps in mind, you can have a safe and enjoyable inflatable experience!
